Three Forks Indian
Trails:
On May 3rd, 1806, the Lewis and Clark Expedition camped at a grove of cottonwoods approximately 100 yards south (left of the sign) here on Pataha Creek. The next morning (May 4th, 1806) the explorers followed "the road over the plains." The east branch is seen in
the first two pictures. It is the higher of the two trails shown and the more level of them. The lower trail is a cow track. The southerly branch is shown in picture
4. This part of the trail is on private land, but permission has been granted in the past to walk the Three Forks Trail.
