Sunday was kind of Architecture Day. It started with The Pineapple, a retreat or folly of one Lord Dunmore, built in 1761. it was much in ruins when acquired by Historic Scotland. |

Then it was off to
Linlithgow for a ride on the other canal, the Union Canal from
Edinburgh. Linlithgow, I discovered, is the birthplace of Mary Queen
of Scots. Below is the Royal Palace since the 1400s |

Below is the second longest aqueduct in
the UK, the Avon aqueduct over the Avon River on the Union Canal. On Wednesday, I will take a wee little drive on this wee little boat, for a wee bit on the canal. The boats stationed here belong to the Linlithgow Union Canal Society, anothe group instrumental in preserving the canals
