No one is immune from bloopers. Especially
not anyone who deals in written information. Typographical errors
are a fact of life in the printing industry, and many of them were
made by the contractors stamping their names and street names into
the concrete. We get a great delight out of these typos, perhaps
because they give us excuse for our own mistakes.
As we showed them to other people they wondered how
they happened. Were the workers illiterate? Hurried? Inattentive?
Mischievous? One case, at 30th & Division, is so egregious I believe
it must have been deliberate. Maybe the concrete finisher got laid
off that day and did it to anger his boss.
We hope you will go out and see them for yourself
and come up with your own answer. Let us hear from you, with your
comments and reactions. And, of course, if you find any more, please
let us know. |
