In the course of
installing ADA accessible sidewalks, many of the original engraved
street markings were lost. However, in the Arnada Neighborhood
many of those original stamps were preserved by taking them out and
placing them into new concrete frames off to the side of the new
ramp. This seems to me to be a very good
and useful technique, and I recommend it to the city for any future
ADA ramps to be installed. There are 19 saved stamps in
Arnada. Take a walk and see them for
yourself.
There are also two stamps preserved at 11th and Daniels, but
they were just inset into the grass without a new concrete frame. I
don't think this is a good solution, and I have heard from a city
employee that there were more here, but they were stolen. |
